Marco Castelli, is one of the most talented italian sax players, with a briliant and prolific carrer with a broad artistic activity. In his long career he has travelled without prejudice across many different musical languages, highlighting the qualities present in each form of expression and always pursuing a very personal sound, free of cliches but rich in emotions and atmospheres.
Beside writing and performing jazz music, he’s a conductor of orchestra and a composer for theatre and modern ballet, and, as a sound designer, he has creatively interacted with various media: poetry, video art, visual arts.
He has partecipated in international jazz festivals like Singapore Art Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Boemia Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Atene Jazz, San Sebastian collaborating with a lot of prestigious artists like Lee Konitz, Markus Stockhausen, Philip Catherine and many others.
Marco Castelli has brought his music all over the world: Singapore, Canada, Thailand, Senegal, Tanzania, Morocco, Tunisia, Jamaica, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Israel, Jordan, Danmarc, Venezuela, Estonia, Greece, Portugal, Lithuania, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Hungary, Croazia, Slovenia, Romania, Ceck Republic, Albania.

Marco Castelli Quartet, toghether with Ermanno Signorelli (guit.) Raffaelo Pareti (cb) and Mauro Beggio (drums). The Marco Castelli quartet finds its natural collocation between the best European jazz tradition and the Mediterranean music influence. DMA, which has appeared in numerous important international jazz festivals. The DMA’s music uniquely blends jazz, hip-hop, funk and word music.

BandOrkestra.55, is a “Modern Popular Band” gathering 14 musicians playing a repertoire that moves freely between latin, swing, boogie, ska and ethnic music, with both original compositions and standards.

Marco Castelli Small Ensemble flexibly ranges from solo to numerous ensembles, according to the nature of its performances. It takes part to theatre and dance performances, music ambiences, music for video art, multimedia events and sax solo+live electronics concerts. Especially important is the collaboration with the Company ‘Il Posto’ with the great success of the performances of Vertical Dance.
