Ken Gold

Winnipeg saxophonist Ken Gold has been active in this city’s music community for over 30 years. With strong roots in Bebop, R&B and Afro-Cuban music, he plays gigs ranging from symphony pops to Blues and Funk.

Ken has enjoyed being a longtime member of some of this city’s finest musical groups including The Ron Paley Band, Papa Mambo, The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and the Ron Halldorson/ Ken Gold Duo. Over the years Ken has performed, toured and recorded with many local and international groups and entertainers such as the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval, Louie Bellson, Curtis Fuller, Big Mama Thornton, Mary Wilson (The Supremes) The Temptations, Paquito D’Rivera, Josh Groban, Remy Shand, Finjan, Wayne Newton, The Moscow Circus, Bob Newhart, and many more. He has recorded on many CDs, radio, TV and film soundtracks.

Ken has also been teaching sax and jazz bands for most of these past 30 years. He is extremely proud of several great musicians active in Canada and the US who are former students. He currently teaches part time at College Jeanne-Sauve.
