Jakob Dinesen

Jakob Dinesen has been the most sought after tenor saxophonist in Denmark the last 20 years with 2 Grammys for Best Jazz Album in 2003 and 2007, the Danish winner of the Jazzpar Award in 2008, the Roager Prize in 2011, the prestigious Bent Jaegen Prize in 2012, and the Palaebar Prize in 2013. Besides his jazz career, Dino, as he is often called, has toured with many African and Cuban artists and also with some of Scandinavia’s best selling pop artists.

He is fluent in both straight ahead jazz and modern jazz-surroundings. His latest trio album is his second recording with legendary drummer Paul Motian.

Dino has recorded with Paul Motian (“Around”,”Dino”), recorded and toured with Kurt Rosenwinkel (“Around”,”Everything will be Allright”), recorded and toured with Nasheet Waits and Ben Street, and Eddie Gomez (“One Kiss too many”, “Lady with a Secret”).

He has also toured with Steve Swallow,Tony Allen, Etienne Mbappe,Ignacio Berroa, Jacek Kochan, Piotr Lemanczyk, Zbigniek Namyslowski. His current trio toured Mexico 2011, and has also toured with various other bands extensively in Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, Brazil, West-and East, Africa, Cuba, Scandinavia and Europe.

Besides his jazz-career he has also toured with many african and Cuban artists and also with some of Scandinavias best-selling Pop-artists.
