Hairul Umam, Saxophonist from Jakarta Indonesia. He was born in Pematang Siantar-North Sumatera (Indonesia) October.22.1987. He knew and heard a very familiar music in his ears within his family environment. Especially from his father, and having played saxophone from his childhood then he picked up his first saxophone when he was 16th years old. It became a part of his upbringing until his growing up for the whole of Hairul’s life.

Then he studied music ini high school of music (2002), through formally and got his Bachelors of Art in Music Department with Education of Music as major interest at the Faculty of Performance Art in Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta (2005-2010).

In 2011, he created Hairul Umam Quintet then performed in International Java Jazz. As a guest star Soloist in Kirana Bigband at 2012. As a Music Director for Joan Jim female Jazz singer from Kuala Lumpur (2013 till now). And also as a permanent and additional/session member in several musical groups, artist, and musicians. Now, he actively involved with compositional music and plan to preparing his personal album.
