Aldo Salvent

Aldo Salvent is an award winning saxophonist and composer. He holds a Master Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance from Florida International University, as well as a Bachelor in Music with  Summa Cum Laude mention from both National University of Costa Rica and Amadeo Roldan Conservatory in La Habana, Cuba.

While in Cuba, he won the First- Prize in four consecutive times at the Amadeo Roldan national classical saxophone competition (1992-1995)

As a saxophonist he has played and toured in Sweden, Norway, Taiwan, United States, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Canada, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Cuba, Brasil and Argentina.

Aldo has also performed with Paquito D’ Rivera,  Brian Lynch,  John Hart, Calixto Oviedo,  Sammy Figueroa,  Waldo Madera,  Chuck Bergeron,  Martin Bejerano,  Jim Gasior,  Jamie Ousley,  Hilario Bell, Gary Keller, Alfredo Chacón and Mike Orta.

Mr. Salvent was the saxophone professor at the National University of Costa Rica for five years and has been invited as an international jury in several saxophone international competitions in Mexico, Honduras and Costa Rica.

Awarded with a Teaching Assistant Scholarship, Mr. Salvent moved to Miami, Florida in 2013 pursuing his Master Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance at Florida International University, having studied with Gary Campbell.

In January 2015 he released  Da Capo, his first solo album as a leader on Dazzle Recordings Label in Denver-Colorado, receiving very positive reviews from “All About Jazz” magazine and “El Nuevo Herald” newspaper.

In 2017 Mr. Salvent is awarded a full tuition scholarship from Frost School of Music at University of Miami to pursue a Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in Jazz Instrumental Performance from the saxophone Studio of Gary Keller.

While at Frost School of Music, Aldo has worked with Dr. Guerra, Maria Schneider, Dr. Daversa, Dr. Bergeron, Ingrid Jensen, Christine Jensen, Lucy Woodward, Shelton Berg, Gary Lindsay and Ken Peplowski.

In January 2019 Mr. Salvent performed with the award-winning Frost Jazz Sextet at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, opening for the Joshua Redman Quartet.

Besides his own original music project, Aldo Salvent currently often performs as a sideman with Grammy & Latin Grammy Nominated group PALO!, the Waldo Madera Jazz Quintet, Alfredo Chacón’s Quartet and Brian Lynch’s Spheres of Influences Band, at the time he also serves as Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at Florida International University.
