Xose Miguelez is one of the most outstanding saxophonists in the new generation of Spanish and Portuguese jazz musicians. In his professional career as a jazz musician, Xose has already played in notable events including “The London jazz festival BBC Radio 3” – 08, “Festival de Jazz de Guimaraes” Portugal-07,06,05, “Guildhall jazz festival” London-09, “Dose dupla 09” CCB Lisbon, Portugal, “Festival de jazz Imaxinasons”, Spain-07, 06, “VII Vodice jazz festival” Croatia 09, “Festival de Jazz de primavera 2010-Cafe Latino”, Spain and “Portugal-jazz 07” CCB Lisbon, Portugal. He was musically trained between Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom, where he has completed his studies at Guildhall school of music and drama, London. In his tenure at the school he studied within the Guildhall Artist Master jazz performance programme, under the direction of saxophonists JeanToussaint (USA).

In 2008 he received the renamed, Caixa Galicia Foundation’s scholarship in Spain. He graduated in jazz, at the Porto University–Esmae, Portugal. Xose is also one of the most renowned musicians within the folk and traditional music of Galicia. In 2006 he became the first to graduate in this field from the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Vigo. Discography highlights in his CD “Esperanza”, which has received great reception from both audience and critics alike.
