Roger Rocha

Roger Rocha, saxophonist, composer and music producer, was born in 1985 in the south of Brazil. He is son of the great maestro Luiz Vanderlei Rocha. He had his first contact with saxophone at age 11 and at 14 years old he already started working in recording studios. Nowadays Roger is considered a representative musician of the new generation of Brazil and is a well respected eclectic musician, working with jazz bands, rock, pop, R & B, blues, bossa nova, samba, etc.

He participated as soloist in the Orchestra Pop & Jazz of the Federal Technical School of the State of Espirito Santo, conducted by Celio Paula da Costa, between 2001 and 2006. In 2009, he won the Furnas contest, state edition, where he ranked among the top eight groups of young talents.

He was nominated for Latin Grammy 2012 and 2013 together with the R3 Special Big Band (Summit Records, USA), Brasilidade Geral (Independent), and he is a member of the Canela Verde group (Independent).

He worked with many artists of national and international music like Roberto Menescal, Bob Mintzer (USA), Adones Rose & Big Band (USA), Chico Pinheiro, Alcione, Seu Jorge, Elba Ramalho, Celso Fonseca, Marcelo Martins, Ricardo Silveira, Danilo Sinna, Jorge Elder, Mario Adnet , Paulo Levi, Tamy, Palavrantiga, Silva, Ademir Junior, Nelson Faria, Ney Conceicao, Andre Vasconcellos, Robertinho , Moises Alves, Belo, Mc Leozinho, Leandro Sapucahy, Belo, Fabiano Araujo, Marcelo Coelho, Saulo Simonasse, Wanderson Lopez, Josue Lopez and others.

Currently Roger Rocha is working with Brasilidade Geral group R3 Special Big Band and plays alto saxophone in the Symphonic Band of the University of Vitoria (FAMES), State of Espirito Santo, Brazil.
