Preston Cummins is a saxophonist in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas and performs regularly throughout the DFW metroplex.
He regularly performs with Pecos River Brass Big Band, The Dallas Jazz Orchestra, The Blandelles, Sweet Water Holy Rollers, Black Dog Friday, and Jeremy Powers. His most recent project is forming and leading his own combo, Mr. PC. He has recorded with Jeremy Powers, Black Dog Friday, Outta The Blue, and The Blandelles.
Originally from Poway, California, Preston grew up in the San Diego/LA jazz scene. He picked up the saxophone in his 5th grade band in the Poway Unified School District. While learning from his excellent band directors and the San Diego Youth Symphony, he learned under and was mentored by Daniel Jackson, Jim Weiss, Matt Gill, Chuck Phillips, Peter DeLuke, Joe Marillo, Charles McPhearson, and Bruce Babad.
Preston earned his Bachelors of Music Education from the University of North Texas in Denton, 2009. He has been an educator since leaving North Texas, teaching both in the public school system and privately while performing throughout the metroplex. Currently, Preston is under the mentorship of Greg Fishman.
Preston proudly endorses P. Mauriat and performs on the PMB-300UL baritone, the PMBS-350 bass, and the PMXT-66RS tenor saxophones.
